A Municipal Valuation Roll records all the properties within the municipal area and forms the basis for the levying of property rates.
Each property value is linked to its market value, which is a determinant of the rates payable by each owner.
A Valuation Roll is valid for five years and property rates will be calculated on the same value for that period unless changes have been made that may affect the value of the property.
When a new Valuation Roll is going to be implemented, property owners in the City of Matlosana are given the opportunity to object to the Municipal Valuation Roll during the inspection period.
The new Municipal Valuation Roll is made available for inspection and objection for a specified period during which property owners can lodge any objections with the municipality.
The valuation review will start immediately after the objection period ends.
Once the roll has been finalised, objections will only be allowed through a specific, legally determined process.
